The problem

When a buyer asks for GS1 barcodes and a trace from the shipped carton back to the lot it came from, spreadsheets give way: the link between a label and the ERP batch is lost at the first repack.

What it does

  • GS1 keysGTIN-13 and GTIN-14 for items, SSCC-18 for logistic units and serial numbers per unit, with batch, dates and weight in the barcode data
  • A GS1 Digital Link address for each identifier
  • Aggregation from bag to pouch to carton to container
  • EPCIS 2.0 events for creationTransformation, aggregation and shipping, recorded on bag creation, stock entries and delivery notes
  • A trace in both directions from any identifierwhat went into it and where it went
  • Label formats for bagsPouches and cartons, and a container manifest

What we built, and what is still open

  • Built and run on demo dataidentifiers, aggregation, events and the two-way trace
  • Still openprinting the barcode symbols on the labels, which show the readable GS1 string today
  • Not in this buildpublishing to GS1 India DataKart and exports to regulators' portals
  • Not yet running at a client
